Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mitzi chose not to grow up. Dragons sometimes have the ability to stunt or even stop their growth, it is rare but it can happen. In Mitzi's case she didn't want the responsibility that came with being a full adult. She felt that she was a failure as she was not as powerful as her mother nor as pretty as her father was handsome. So, she chose the path of 'The Small' and did not mature after getting her wings. She is often found playing with the Pygmy dragons or guarding the chickens and as she calls them, 'Her Peeps.' Despite her own feelings of insecurity she is well loved in the cave. She often fiercely stands up to full grown dragon's in defense of other hatchlings and Smalls. Her best friend is Ey'tukan, a male Canopy dragon who loves her for her playful spirit.
