This breed of dragon was thought to exist only in legend. Although their name varies between cultures, they are often referred to as “Guardians of Nature.” They are able to channel the forces of fire, ice and lightning, which allows them to wield tremendous power. Seen very rarely, it is thought that they only become active when something is threatening the territory they have chosen to guard. In order to protect their chosen home, these dragons are incredibly adaptable; they have been seen everywhere from remote mountain ranges, to ancient forests, to the darkest depths of the ocean.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Once, long, long ago, Tyczar rose from where Shadow-Singe Castle now rests. He was summoned by the ancestors of the current Triad. It was the Century of Sorrow, as it was known by most dragons. Many dragons were killed, territories were burned, everyone was becoming divided. In a final attempt to end the war, the last remaining Trio attempted to perform the ritual to summon the Guardian.

This was the first successful summon in the ninety years of the war. Tyczar rose, and after finding what was promoting the war (a Black Marrow with motives to destroy peace and sadistically watch the deaths of thousands) battled it. The fight was fierce, as the Shadow side dragons had to be taken care of first. With now millions dead, Tyczar found the source and wiped it out, as far as he knew.

Peace staggered but gradually was restored. Tyczar disappeared as quickly as he had come. Now many centuries later, as peace is shining, darkness is brooding. Tyczar may just have to be awakened once again.
