Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Astriferous was always a humble dragon. Her origins were rather questionable, as some other dragons in the cave had said. Others would brush them off; she was kind, and she had likely come from the cave—no lineage attached to her to speak of. It was surprising that she wished to tell her story, as she had, for so long, remained quiet about herself. When the night was quiet, she said, and the spirits were restless. Words that did not bode well, yet weren't nonsensical, coming from her. Many were surprised to hear she'd been the companion of another human, as most of the dragons in the cave had come from the wild or the well-known abandoned pile of dragon eggs, carefully picked out of it by their current mistress. She recalled, mournfully, how her last companion had come to a rather tragic end. But she'd met and aided their current mistress, who'd offered her a new home. She accepted. Though Astriferous often misses the human who'd befriended her first, she's happy where she ended up.
