Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It can fit right in your palm.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This dragon certainly earns an "E" for effort. The hatchlings with stunted growth in EG's Cave hold annual races which many of them train for year-round. This dragon, despite her small size, can out-fly nearly all of the other hatchlings in EG's Cave. She trains every day year-round to become the best flier she can be. This dragon flies the extra mile. Because of her upbeat and humorous personality, the other hatchlings have affectionately given her the nickname "Squeezal".
