Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

My Dearest Love was named on the Lady's first Christmas. One of the first hollies to grace the cave, he was the victim of a misdirected freeze! The Lady carried him around for months after, always calling him her dearest love... He doesn't mind a bit. Dearest, for short, loves the attention. He can be a ham at times, but he has a big heart. If a dragon is upset, it's a guarantee that Dearest will be there to give cuddles and make the dragon feel better. The other dragons love him and spoil him, grateful that the attention doesn't go to his head.
