Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Like others of her kind, Yvienne has an imagination and passion beyond the understanding of humans, but unlike her kin, she finds her fate most cursed.

Once, she scrutinized the world of people, fascinated by our aspirations and taking pity on our inability to follow our dreams and enjoy life. So she took several apprentices under her wing and showed them the secrets of happiness, carefully inspiring them with her power. Her students became the most talented bards and poets the country had ever seen and through their art humankind forgot its worries, embracing the new joy.

But it was on that unfortunate day that she decided to reveal all her fantasy to her apprentices. Their young minds were poisoned by the power of the nearly-immortal creature and, to her horror, they fell to the ground, dead.

Heartbroken, Yvienne fled above the clouds. She only sends visions of hope and healing and a glimpse of sadness persists in her eyes, as the world slowly forgets her lessons.
