The egg faded away completely; in its place there’s a cute baby dragon. It doesn’t seem to have much substance, though.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Jack is a bright and active young Shadow Walker who is almost always on the physical plane; he seems to dislike lingering in the shadow realm for an extended period of time and prefers to be corporeal. He has also not fully perfected the art of disappearing and certain parts of him will remain visible when the rest of him is hidden. Jack has a varied sleep schedule; some days he is nocturnal, others diurnal. Sometimes he will sleep through both a day and night, then wake up the next morning and be active for almost 24 hours.
