Water Walkers are small dragons that are frequently found around bogs and ponds. While they are flightless, they retain the flight sacs and hollow bones of their airborne cousins. These traits, coupled with their extraordinarily long, webbed toes, allow them to stand on top of calm waters, using their small sails to propel them wherever they please. They spend the majority of their lives on the water, retreating to the tops of lily pads when the waters become too rough to float atop.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Samuel define is often frustrated with himself. He feels that he is quite helpless and very weak. Being a Water walker makes him very small compared to the rest of his clan, he can't walk on land, he can't fly, and can't leave small quiet ponds because he can't stand on rough waters. No wonder Samuel feels limited in his life, especially when he is surrounded by his clan that aren't water walkers. Samuel is however one of the smartest dragons in his clan. He has made several inventions to help himself with his handicaps. He doesn't know it but his clan envies his determination, smarts, creativity and his resourcefulness. There is one of his inventions that allowed him to travel that caught the attention of his clan. He travels by making a huge water bubble that floats while he propels on it with his wings. The huge bubble doesn't break because Samuel is very light being a water walker.
