Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ever since her egg was laid without any of their characteristic speckles, Ixani has been in the shadow of her sisters Iquieke and Ninarnia, two very attractive tawny-colored Ridgewings. Though Iquieke was somewhat kind to her littlest sister, Ninarnia was known to cast dark glances her way. The vain Uelyyia obviously favored her two elder daughters and often left the young Magi hatchling in her father's care, if he was around. Ixani—she had originally been called Nix by most of her immediate family—grew to be reclusive, morose, and fearful. She is cautious of anyone's support, even that of Loveitall, who currently vies for her affections.
