Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

YuleBringer HollyBright is a Yulebuck Christmas dragon. His egg was brought home on Christmas morning by the family's hatchlings, who were convinced that it was a large piece of peppermint candy. Fortunately, his owner recognised it as a Yulebuck and bribed them to let it go with a piece of real candy. However, the family was thrown into panic when, some days later, only the eggshell was found in the hatchery. The hatchling was nowhere to be seen, or at least, it was nowhere to be seen for the next three hours, during which a frantic search ensued. Much later, the little Yulebuck was found peacefully asleep beside his eggshell, and an elaborately wrapped present (consisting mostly of rocks and crystals) were found in each dragons' (and the owner's) den. His giving nature followed him into adulthood, and he often tries to find out an item a dragon likes and then searches for it so that he can gift it to them.
