Antarean Dragons are peaceful creatures shrouded in mystery. They are primarily found in the desert where they get most of their energy from sunbathing. Their most notable traits are their highly reflective manes and the mysterious light emitted by their scales which fades from bright, nearly blinding yellow-white into dim red as the dragons get older. Legend claims that they are otherworldly beings that came to this world when a meteor struck.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Few know much about Alan, because she keeps away from humans and, for the most part, other dragons. But she loves painting. When she isn't sunbathing, she'll make pigments from desert plants and stones and paint beautiful murals on cliffs, large rocks, and mesas. She sees glory in the natural world from a life of exploring. But time has aged her, and her wings don't fly as they used to, so she passes the time by painting what she's seen on any surface she can find. The otherworldly scenery brings life to the sunbaked deserts where Alan rests, her journeying days complete.
