Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Named for the season he appeared in, Wintertime's egg was brought back to the cave by Artemis Thuwed at the break of midnight on the solstice. The darkest night of the year was illuminated by his arrival—the clan was amazed to see another of the legendary red-and-gold eggs, adorned with holly leaves and bright berries. Great was the rejoicing when a crimson hatchling stumbled from the egg, blue eyes bright with curiosity.

His decision to never grow up was the cause of much strife: some dragons believed that freezing a Holly was inherently wrong, but, in the end, his decision was respected, despite the drama it caused.

Unlike his mother, Wintertime isn't extroverted and cheerful, but he makes up for this with his intelligence and insightfulness. He can't stand to see other dragons sad, and will quietly approach them and lend a shoulder to lean on when times are hard. He's very patient, and an amazing listener. These kind and selfless traits have made him much loved by the clan.
