Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This male suffered a terrible fate. Taken in by a human tribe when he was just an egg, the gleaming amphiptere found himself revered as a god--and yet imprisoned as a slave. Kept in a massive stone cage where his worshipers could admire him in safety, his hatred towards his captors grew every day, his body yearning to fly in a sky he could see but never reach.

And then, one day, his captors vanished.

Whether they ran from plague or war or fear of another 'spirit' he did not know, but he was left caged in a prison from which he could not escape. Without his devotees to care for him he was reduced to a half-mad existence, feeding on what few animals fell into his home, throwing himself constantly against the stone bars, going slowly insane. It was in utmost despair that he finally gave voice to his pain, a series of haunting songs that echoed past the bars and into the sweet freedom of the world beyond... and, much to his surprise, a female Thunder answered....
