This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Creature had originally been a Deep Sea dragon: a Creature of Water. It was a horrible mistake when he was bitten and robbed of his future forever. Some dragons are meant to be something, and who knows, maybe Creature had had an amazing life set in front of him. But no, it all had to be stolen, it all had to be snatched away as he was forced to develop into a Vampire dragon, and his premature gills dissolved and he grew tiny legs instead of fins, and he was bound forever to land and forced back away from water.
