When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

An astute and solemn beast, Ibides makes his home in a paradise, a secluded lake of fragrant winds and the thousand white wings of ibises. Knowing well the scarcity and beauty of that which he has found, he guards his domain fiercely against outsiders, wary of anything that could cause his land harm.

So it was much to his dismay that a female magi dragon plopped in one day, going on and on about storks and cranes and ibises and COMPLETELY RUINING THE SERENITY.

After a year and a half of powerless threats and angry fin-shaking, Ibides has given up on driving out the interloper. More than that, he's almost come to consider the sound of her voice--it is a rather lovely and musical one, despite all her scientific blathering--an integral part of his home, a fact proven when he protected her from an invading dragon who sought to do her harm. That fight left him seriously wounded, and it was the magi who nursed him back to health... and stirred something in his heart in the process...
