Dark green dragons, once they mature, appear to become an entirely different species. However, this isn’t true. Rather, they burrow underground and get nutrients from their vines. These vines are sometimes referred to as Dragon Grass. These dragons are very violent, and will use their vines to capture, kill, and eat anything that moves, as well as nearby plants. Luckily, their range is limited and they cannot use magic. Dark green dragons tend to be easy to spot since they usually kill all plants around them and thus are usually surrounded by a large clearing.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ao Maou is a dark green vine dragon in the service of her clan. Unlike most of the other vine dragons in her clan, she is stationed as far away from the cave as possible, on the outer rim of the clan's territory. The reason for this is that, except during heat when it is breeding season she is so aggressive that she tries to kill any dragon who gets close. That wouldn't be unusual for a vine except that she makes sure to move her vines as close to the cave as possible. It took a near death of a clan member before the other dragons realized the danger in having her anywhere near them and the cave. Not having the heart to kill, her since several of them grew up with her, they exiled her to the outer bounds of the clan's territory instead but with a condition. If she ever and they meant ever came near the cave again they would kill her. No matter what. They WOULD kill her. So she waits in exile and plots her revenge.
