Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Zilo is a friendly little dragon who likes to make up songs about himself and his friends.  His name, in fact, means "Blue Canary".  He is very social, but unfortunately cannot play with very many of the other hatchlings because he turns into stone in the day time when the rest of them are active, and by the time that he reawakens most of the other hatchlings have fallen asleep.  This makes him feel lonely sometimes, but at least he has a few nocturnal friends, such as the nebula dragon named Laife.  He is also the only friend of Xanthe, a very shy pygmy dragon who is afraid of everyone else.
