Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Nightfall was frozen in time by a magic spell before its gender could be determined and is most accurately described as a pest. When Nightfall can't find any insects to play with, it follows the adult dragons around, biting at their paws, grabbing their tails in its jaws and refusing to let go so it can get a drag-along ride. It also squeaks and squeals for attention when the adults are trying to nap. Its favorite target is Arnlief, the leader of the black dragons, whom it adores. Nightfall is delighted to get any attention at all from him even if it's a growl and a sharp nip. It doesn't even mind that an exasperated Arnlief has tried to chase it out of the clan but its adoptive Vampire parents do. Nightfall is a bit sorry that it's caused a rift between Arnlief and Vanja and Kalda. The rift between them means it has fewer opportunities to sneak off and play with Arnlief because Vanja and Kalda are now determined to keep them away from each other.
