Flamingo Wyverns are so named for their resemblance to the tropical birds with whom they often share territory. Their most striking feature is the bony black crest over their faces and snouts, larger in males, aiding both in digging up food and protection when fighting for mates. Males are duller in color than females due to their habit of wandering from nest to nest and picking from less algae-rich feeding grounds.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Very often, Waterway and his elder brother, Wetland, are mistaken for one another. It's a warranted mistake. Both these Mingoleaf siblings are extremely similar, having near identical appearances, voices, and personalities. Both are isolated from their families, wanting to avoid the drama and subterfuge that comes from such a huge brood of Flamingos. Both are physically built and work constantly on improving their strength to defend themselves. And, both are pains to talk to, wanting nothing to do with dragons outside the family either. The only difference between these two Flamingos is one is slightly better with magic. For as physically gifted as Waterway is, he also seeks to improve his magic game. He's no wizard (especially when compared with his sister, Scrappy) but he can still send a peddle or two at those who annoy him. It should be noted that these brothers absolutely hate being mistaken for one another, as common a mistake as it is. They don't seem to recognize they're alike.
