Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Born to a crowded, inbred family, Buzzard was given very little attention as an egg. His mother rejected him almost immediately and the job of incubating was given to dragons who shared the nursery. This early abandonment weighed heavily on his mind, and after hatching he began to act out in frustration. At first, the dead and broken eggs discarded from the nests provided easy nourishment. Soon it escalated into a much more heinous act, with Buzzard attempting to break open live eggs- a taboo deemed unthinkable by most dragons. Still wingless, he was chased from his own birthplace. He surely would have died had he not been picked up by a wandering human. Buzzard ended up in a new home with 3 other hatchlings his age. At last, he felt the caring hospitality of a family. Now fully mature, he has all but ceased his egg-eating and has developed a wonderful personality. He still remains somewhat introverted and quiet, but retains an undying sense of loyalty to his three closest siblings.
