Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large stone on its tail.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Discarded as an egg for unknown reasons, this little beast has only recently become aware of her true parentage, and she clings to it fiercely--and rather desperately. For she knows her parent's names mean SOMETHING, but she's quite at a loss as to what, adopting what she hopes is an acceptable mimic of theirs in place of the name her foster parents gave her and endlessly trying to figure out the language of her ancestors. She's not quite sure she's got it yet, but in the mean time she's having great fun calling everyone baka-chan.
