Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has large frills on its head.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Spitting Nightmare is a young Frilled Dragon who never ages. The reason for this is said to have something to do with the local Magi dragon, Flaris, who he was seen bothering constantly before his growth suddenly stopped. As such, he is often seen spending time with Grae Matter, though he seems to wish to be like the older dragons. He is very adept at flying and enjoys his duty as "messenger", to a certain extent, as he is small and fast as well as skilled. Even though, the young dragon dreams of someday being as large as the other dragons, particularaly Rayzer, elder of Ray's Cave.
