Moonstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. They are nocturnal and gather energy through the absorption of moonlight with their orbs. They seem to glow with a lunar light and are a very gentle breed, feeding off of plants and the moons’ power.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

The Dark Moon's Desire hatched knowing that her mother suffered. She knew the rules of the Weyr of the Moon, once her home: the Moon's visions decreed which dragons could mate with which, and each pair could bear only a single offspring. Her mother seemed especially hurt by this law: from her hatchlinghood, the Dark Moon's Desire saw her mother's pain, how she recoiled from her mate when he said her name.

They have no real names now, the Dark Moon's Desire or her mother, the Dark Moon herself. One night, from nowhere, all dragons connected by blood to the Dark Moon were cast out from the Weyr they'd been raised in. They lost everything, a small band of only eight dragons turned away from their homes, their mates, their world.

The Dark Moon's Desire, somehow, has handled the exile fairly well. Better than her son, or her mother. In some part of her heart, she always knew that her mother's mating to her father was a terrible tragedy. The sorrow of her hatchlinghood, finally in context.
