Aww... It’s a cute baby drake. It’s mostly white but has a blue stripe down its back.

And look! It has grown antlers! It must be close to maturing.

Young drakes are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own.

Hangurisuu-eru is a very lucky little hatchling. Despite the fact that she has grown her antlers and wings, she still does not have to do much more than float in the water and bathe in the sun. Her mother does all of the hard work, like fishing and protecting. Hangur just spends her days playing in the sand and the swell of the waves. Oh, and of course begging her mother for food as the little one is always hungry.

Her name means 'Hungry Swell', like the swell of a wave.
