Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Chabichou is a perpetually anxious dragon. Sure, he doesn't have to worry about being eaten, but he must always be careful about his environment. It must be humid so his body won't harden but not too humid: otherwise, mold will start growing on his body. Of course, Chabichou cannot go near dragons that produce heat in any way or he will melt! He also avoids the omnivorous dragons of the Moonstone Clan because he smells like food to them. The Moonstone Clan has a strict "no killing" policy between its members but, to Chabichou, it never hurts to be on the safe side.

Chabichou wishes he could be a "real" dragon. It would make his life easier. Furthermore, he identifies as male and is miffed than even the Paper dragons of the Clan have a gender while his is "unknown". The true source of his anger is his inability to produce any offsprings with his lifemate, the perky Picodon.
