Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male Silvers hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When he was a hatchling, Katei would sit in wide, open areas and watch the flight paths of birds. He grew fascinated with the movement of their shadows, and upon maturing, began to sketch in sand and dirt what he remembered. Katei's hobby, which he calls "shadow-watching" or "shadow-capturing", has led him to cover the walls of his living cave with the silhouettes he's seen, of dragons, birds, even butterflies dancing, flying, resting. Though he prefers to use darker-hued natural dyes for his work, Katei will paint with whatever materials are seasonally available. As such, his cave is naturally the most colorful out of all the family living spaces.
