Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It must be very shy since it keeps hiding from you.

It’s gotten slightly bigger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Linux is the smallest dragon in Emmaline's cave, even amongst all the hatchlings. When he was younger, he used to try to tag along with all the other hatchlings, but being so small he was too slow to keep up. They all eventually grew wings anyway, leaving him alone on the ground. Due to always being on his own, Linux started up hobbies that the other dragons teased him for, such as building complicated objects out of just sticks and stones. When the other dragons realized how useful some of his creations were, however, Linux put all the teasing in the past and freely shared with the other hatchlings. Now, when he isn't cleverly creating new things, Linux can often be found running along walls to avoid being stepped on by Emmaline or his larger dragon cavemates.
