Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aswin is one of the last great black dragons of his clan remaining. After the battle of Hal far few managed to escape with their lives. The battle raged for a week as clans of black dragons clashed with teeth, claws and wild magiks dueling for supremacy. At the end of the battle when all was lost he was in the rearguard protecting their clan leader when he was struck down by a mighty spell. Left for dead and buried beneath the wings of bodies of his fellow clan dragons he came to and managed to stagger away from the battle making his escape and hiding until his wounds had healed. Then he had returned to the scene as best he could to see all that remained of his clan burned on great pyres by the victors. Haunted by that day, he roams the lands still searching for any others of his clan who like him may have escaped.
