Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Fromage is Meerkat's resident cheese dragon. She bought his egg from a bakery in the middle of nowhere. Meerkat instinctively knew it was a dragon egg, but just out of curiosity, she decided to take a small nibble from the corner.

For some reason, Fromage was able to sense this when he was inside the egg. Ever since he hatched, he's done anything he could to avoid her. He hides in dark corners of the cave, under the wings of other dragons. He sometimes disguises himself as a square of moldy cheese, and while he has been thrown out several times because of this, it seems a better fate than winding up in Meerkat's stomach. When he's not hiding, he's often conversing with Too Chicken for This Cave, a chicken who also thinks that the pair of them will one day be messily devoured.
