Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Rune Essence is Daydreamer09's ninth eldest adopted drake and nineteenth dragon. He was named in honor of his mother and for the strange markings on his body.

During the mass mayhem of the discovery of the Legendaries, Daydreamer09 was searching through the large pile of abandoned eggs. When her eyes met this one, she had felt an intense urge to take it to her cave and help it grow. Not much is known about where this Vampire drake came from. The scroll owner of his parents remains anonymous and no one has any idea what Vampire sired him.

Rune Essence is the bard and storyteller of his cave. He yearns to hear and retell stories of epic conquests, ballads of beautiful, yet, tragic romances, hilarious children's tales and enchantingly haunting mysteries and ghost stories. Many nights, the younger hatchlings and several of the older dragons will circle around to listen to this Vampire dragon speak.
