Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fierva is a Hellfire Wyvern. Young Hellfires can be raised to have calm dispositions but Fierva has obviously never heard of this. Short tempered from the moment she hatched, the young wyvern's foul disposition was only excarbated by the continuous bullying of the older and stronger Bright Breasted Wyvern hatchling Casynch. Her nature grew increasingly uglier until even adult dragons hesitated to approach her. However, the situation took a swift about turn when she suddenly made the discovery that she was at least two heads taller than her tormentor, who had reached the end of his growth. To Casynch's horror, through the next few months Fierva proceeded to grow until she was almost twice his size, successfully taking over his role as the bully. This fact has not sweetened her disposition one jot. Vengeful and unforgiving, she has made it her life's goal to hunt and attack Casynch, paying him back for everything he put her through.
