Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kolquwar is seemingly innocent and kindly. But that can be no farther from the truth. He is responsible for all kinds of problems his clan has been having. Such as dragons getting mad at them for no apparent reason, mothers loosing their eggs and hatchlings being dragged off in the middle of the night. But he's not alone. There are four other stripe hatchlings responsible for these acts. And that's not the end of it. Kolquwar and his 'pack' don't go after just any old egg, but those of specific dragons. Kolquwar plans to take over his clan and needs dragons born of powerful blood to do so. But does anyone know this... No. Because the only dragon who knows is Mlagern, and nobody listens to him! No! They don't even give it a second thought!
