Golden Wyverns are known for their beautiful metallic scales and rumored magical abilities. Living high in the mountains, these dragons do not believe in killing for sport or pleasure. They will hunt only when hungry and defend themselves when provoked, but will avoid killing to the best of their abilities. Golden Wyverns often mingle with other dragons of similar color and take pride in their shimmering hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aurelia was the first of her kin to venture from her home. Aurelia was a kind soul, but she was young and naive. One day she ventured forth to the nearby forest, where she watched some hunters from the sky above. Each and every day she would return, watching the hunters. One day, she approached a hunter, eager to share her knowledge about the region, but as soon as the hunter saw her gold coat he lashed out, screaming that he had found a prize far better than any buck. Soon more hunters arrived, and she fled back to her mountain home where she stayed, ever distrustful of humans. It was three centuries before she spoke to one. A man pleaded for her to save his sister, and despite all her instincts telling her to refuse, she did. The man and his sister lived, and the three vanished without a trace. Some nights, when the moon is full, in a town shadowed by a mountain, some say you can see her gold shine shimmer in the night sky, with two shadows on its back.
