Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sunglint once lived a solitary life, but that changed when he met Persosmeri; her beauty, deeper than her golden scales, enamored him.

He flew to her and bowed, pledging his life to her service. This flustered her, but she quickly regained her poise. "To follow me means doom, and I won't have your blood on my claws." She then turned and flew off.

He saw regret in her eyes and knew she hadn't meant it. For months she tried to elude him, but he always found her.

After trying to lose him in a particularly fierce storm one night, Sunglint lit on a cliff beside her as she stared at the stars.

"My mother is an evil sorceress- she won't rest until I'm dead," she said. "I can't let you chance death following me."

"I wouldn't have it any other way."

"I would!" Persosmeri snarled. "I won't let you die like this."

He looked into her eyes. "My love for you wouldn't let me stray." Her snarl faded to sadness.

"I- I can't lose you," she said.

"Then I'll never leave your side."

And he never did.
