Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Blackos was abandoned as an infant and found among a cluster of discarded eggs by a clueless wizard who had absolutely no idea of how to take care of one hungry Black hatchling—let alone a full nest of youngsters.

Luckily Blackos was sharp, even at such a young age, and took over rapidly; under her not-so-gentle guidance, the compliant wizard was soon supervising a thriving dragon community. Despite her dubious origins, as she grew older the clever dragon was crowned Queen by her peers, officially taking the lead.

Although she is ill-tempered and can be quite reckless, she is an excellent strategist when she chooses to be and a respected leader.
