Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sunless Ray was the first of Twillyz's victims to leave the cave for good.  She had been teased for a long time growing up about her inbred origins, and she was angry at her cavemates.  She took her mate, Fierce Ray, into the wild forest hundreds of miles away.  In the middle of the forest was a large lake, making the land look like a ring around the water.  She and Fierce Ray settled down on the west side of the lake, where they could enjoy a good view of the sunset every evening.  Little did they know, others from the cave followed step and settled in the same forest, but on different sides of the lake, putting distance between each other.  They formed four clans: Clan of the Setting Sun, Clan of the Lake, Clan of the Dark, and Clan of the Fruit.
