Yellow-Crowned Dragons are found in the hottest, driest regions of the desert. Although they thrive in these conditions, they do very poorly in cold or humid climates. These dragons are very fast fliers and skilled hunters, and usually feed on small, quick desert antelope. Yellow-Crowned Dragons are diurnal, and spend the night in underground burrows they dig or steal from other creatures. They are often seen out sunning themselves in the early morning sun, waiting for the heat of the day to set in.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

While his sister, Alina, is much more soft-spoken, malleable, and timid, Aonani is blunt and snarky. He's significantly smarter than the rest of his family, almost matching his sly, manipulative mother. As such, the two have a very fraught relationship, with Apollo seeing him as an annoying, snarky pest too smart for his own good. She won't even let him inside the den anymore. Aonani is very intelligent, but also very sarcastic, blunt, and admittedly pretty irritating. He constantly makes comments during conversation, or just in general, and he never seems happy about anything. It takes a special kind of dragon to be around him, meaning he has very few friends. He's also an opportunist hunter, usually hunting in groups or sneaking kills away from bigger dragons. He does get into huge trouble for doing this, at least he would if he wasn't so good at avoiding getting caught. Aonani is a true escape artist, able to fool just about anyone and evade capture like a pro. He's that smooth!
