Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kyutai loves to make sculptures out of ice and snow, especially toys she can then enchant to resist melting and give away to other dragons in the family, whether her younger siblings or the hatchlings of her older siblings. Every year, she tries to arrange a playdate with many of the youngest dragons in the family, inviting all of them to an open field full of snow and ice fragments so they can all make toys together. Kyutai's practiced her magic long enough to be able to keep the ice and snow toys from melting for about an entire year, right in time for the next holiday playdate. Her favorite creation is an ice castle built by several of the older hatchlings working together; it was large and sturdy enough for them and their friends to play in all year long.
