Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This little beast found herself plucked away from her home one day by a warlock. He cast some sort of spell on her while she lashed about in a cage first. Then, come morning when she became still as a statue, she was sold at the local market as an "Antique". The poor noblewoman had no idea what she was getting into when she brought the little terror into her home... and locked it away in a room among several valuable items. When night rolled around, the hatchling went wild. This unfortunate incident did not grant the hatchling her freedom, however. She was sold off to a baron, then a duke, then a duchess... she became trapped in a cycle of destruction.

As the legend goes: beware the dragon ornament. It will smash all your other ornaments to bits.
