Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Spike Crook-Tail is one of the very few dragons in Ran's clan obsessed with the bloodthirsty Vampire, Drusilla Kerrigan.  She first heard the story of the moon-headed undead when she was a hatchling; by the end of the telling, she was infatuated with finding out more about Drusilla.

Spike trained herself to be a powerful fighter in order to take on the task of dropping off occasional meals to Drusilla, and no-one was the wiser as to what her true intentions were.  She is a die-hard thrill-seeker, and for her personally, there is no greater thrill then allowing Drusilla to feed on her blood.

Her mate, Stormsnarl, has no idea of her obsessions; it's guaranteed that if he did, he'd snap her wings and never let her out of his sight for her own protection.
