Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Darkinus is a slim, large black dragon. The first of his group to hatch and the first to grow up fully, he is the oldest in the scroll. True to his species, Darkinus is a warrior above all else. He loves to hunt alone during the night. He is often quick-tempered and easily angered, but he does have a soft spot for several of his closest fellows. Although his intentions are good, Darkinus' quick temper often leads him to jump into things without thinking out everything fully. He is solitary most of the time, but will sometimes converse with other dragons in a small group. Darkinus has a pasttime of reading and often spends his time curled up in the cave with a book.
