Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Extra Minty Fresh Peppermint is infatuated with Extra Minty Fresh Toothpaste. She, too, believes in his cause, and vies to find a cure for the laughter that happens when she, Extra Minty Fresh Toothpaste, and the other Mint dragons are introduced.

Though she tries to hide her crush 'for the sake of science', every single dragon can tell that Extra Minty Fresh Peppermint likes Extra Minty Fresh Toothpaste. She, however, doesn't want to tell him for 'it would distract him during research', and, of course, she is also afraid of him not liking her back.

Extra Minty Fresh Peppermint cherishes the smock that Extra Minty Fresh Toothpaste gave her during their attempt to concoct a cure, and she wears the smock at all times. Because of this (and the fact that Extra Minty Fresh has her help with his experiments most of the time) she considers herself Extra Minty Fresh Toothpaste's assistant, and will proudly declare that fact to any and all dragons who ask. And those who don't.
