The Stormherald Dragon is so called for its impeccable sense of a storm’s impending arrival. These dragons burrow deep into rock and compacted earth where they can strengthen their metal plating by consuming large amounts of iron and copper ore, but are so sensitive to the changes in atmospheric pressure and thrums of energy along electromagnetic fields that their surfacing is an infallible portent of inclement weather. A Stormherald greets a thunderstorm with great enthusiasm, for to be struck by lightning is its ultimate goal— a charged Stormherald is a vicious foe who delights in the riot of power afforded to it by these electrical currents, and those who carry such power are to be avoided due to the heightened aggression and destructive nature they exhibit. They are known for chasing storms across vast distances to obtain this powerful status and thus becoming one of the most brutally savage predators in Galsreim.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
