Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Night Cycle is a very energetic dragon. He sleeps during the day in a statue-like state until nightfall. Once it's dark, Night Cycle spreads his wings to fly in the starlit sky. As he flies high in the heavens he counts the endless stars above him as a remembrance of the games he once played with his mother. Even though she is gone Night Cycle found a family that cares for him. His home is located in an underbrush full of other dragons just like him who have lost their parents in some way or another. He loves to teach the younger dragons how to hunt and fight in the dark. Not only does he help the younger generation learn how to survive he also tells them stories about the stars and what each one means. As the morning light comes in, Night Cycle always goes to sleep under a big oak tree where he waits for the next nightfall.
