Lumina Dragons received their names from their highly reflective scales, which—at times—seem to glow. They are vain, always strutting about and preening incessantly; if one of their scales has so much as a scratch or a defect, they’ll remove it. Luckily, their scales grow back quickly, and each new growth is more beautiful than the last. These narcissistic dragons live in small groups and prefer to surround themselves with beauty. The females guard their territory and eggs while the males search for vegetation to eat.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Emberwish is a vain dragon. She is extremely conscious of her looks, even when it really doesn't matter. This may seem like an overwhelming feature of her, but it really isn't. Past the beauty and looks, she is a kind and compassionate dragon. She grew up as the eldest of a quadruple—her, Emerald, Marley, and Turquoise. She considered herself far better than her playmates, and spent her time trailing the bigger dragons around. She grew particularly attached to the lonesome dragon Candy, then fell in love, still a hatchling. Convinced he would never love her back, she distanced herself from all and grew depressed. James noticed, and with his everlasting kindness, brought her out again. When Emberwish grew up, she felt feelings for him and he did too. She still had feelings for Candy, but she told herself he wouldn't want her. She attempted to have a family with James, but like an omen, she got no egg. To her delight, Candy approached her and told her he loved her. They are now mates.
