Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Unlike the Banni-ghymn, the Auvrea-neldth (a surname meaning Blood of the Arcane) only use their knowledge of the arcane for personal benefit. Members of the Auvrea-neldth guild are often cruel and unforgiving. Dragons come here to learn the dark arts of necromancy, destructive elemental magic, and other such morally questionable practices.

The Auvrea-neldth territory is home to one of the only dragon-run apothecaries on Dragon Isle. Balcthel is the proud (and somewhat narcissistic) owner of this shop. Though she is a relatively new addition, Balcthel thinks rather highly of herself. She looks down upon newcomers and elders alike, and considers herself the most valuable asset of the Auvrea-neldth. Truthfully, she possesses very little skill or arcane ability herself, it is simply her manipulative and stubborn personality that has secured her a place in their ranks. She is one of the only dragons capable of reasoning with Morchanar without becoming violently and mysteriously ill.
