Avatars of Change are unpredictable, exuberant dragons whose unique connection to magic has saturated their entire bodies. It is said that possessing one of their iridescent scales can change one’s fate, and many have sought the favor of these dragons hoping to receive a scale as a gift.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

The origin of this dragon is a mystery. It is said she appeared in the sky not long after the first trio was formed. The Ice dragon, Sosul'ka, was the first to know of her arrival, after one of her scales dropped out of the sky and landed in front of Sosul'ka. Her scales are powerful indeed, and are often worn as amulets—though the change they bring is not always for the better. Fortunes have been found and lost, lives have been rearranged like leaves in the wind with a touch from the Avatar. Those who know of her fear her, and some claim many major upheavals in the cave can be traced back to some action of hers—a whisper in the thoughts of a passing dragon, a distraction occurring at a crucial moment, a dream forgotten upon waking that nonetheless inspired action. She floats above the dragons of the Cave, impassive, her shifting magic and dark appendages giving the impression of countless wings. Her true name has been orphaned by history; she is now known only as the Simurgh.
