And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
This young female is very haughty, perhaps due to her spoiled upbringing. Born during a time when the masses were in hysterics to have one of her breed, she watched with pride how she was prized more highly than the three, four golds breeders offered for one such as her. All this fame seems to have gone to her head, and now she's developed the notion that as a rare and beautiful dragon of love, it's her job to boss around the lesser, stupider breeds. She can constantly be seen barking orders at those lowly worms from her cushioned perch on the porch, demanding in a lofty fashion that all the other hatchlings shield their eyes from her radiance and bring her cool drinks to sip.
