Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When the human girl Flight found Avedyr of Elgar's egg, glowing with a strange, orange aura, she took the egg back to the cave which serves as her home on the edge of the Lake of Elger, hidden within the Mountains of Elgar where no other humans ventured. Together with the Water Dragon, Fyren of the West, Avedyr grew under Flight's care and became extremely attached to the human girl, following her everywhere. As a full grown Magi Dragon, he appointed himself the Guardian of the Mountains of Elgar, much like Fyren of the West's position involving the Western Sea. He now spends his days with Flight, living in a cave nearby her home, and using his powerful Magic to help her and the other living creatures within the Mountains of Elgar.
