Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Many moons ago, a terrible darkness fell upon the dragon's caves.  Dragons were struggling to be born and grow.  Eventually, the dragons simply stopped trying.  For what seemed like an eternity, no new dragons were born.  Life, however, will always find a way.  After the long, barren darkness, dragons finally began laying their eggs again.  Return to Glory was born in one of the earliest clutches of eggs after this disaster.  Her struggle into adulthood is a testament not only to the strength of Guardian dragons, but also to all of dragonkind.  Now that the time of tribulation has passed, Return to Glory enjoys quiet days among her friends and family.  She is, however, always vigilant.  In the deep recesses of her draconic mind lurks a monster made of cables, cords, and spite.  It walked the land during her earliest days, and should it ever return she will be waiting to defend her draconic brethren against it.
